Kara Hui has no interest in directing her own movie

25 Apr – Although she has already dominated the industry as one of the most respected Hong Kong actresses of this era, Kara Hui stated that she has no plans to take her career to the next level.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who appeared at the Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival recently, stated that she has no interest to try her hands on directing as many other female stars like Sylvia Chang and Zhao Wei have done.

"I have done other behind the scenes work, but not directing. To be a director, you must first give up your profession as an actor. It's very hard being a director. The pressure is great. I won't enjoy it at all. I love acting more," she said.

Kara said that rather than becoming a director herself, she would continue to work with young filmmakers in future movies as long as there are opportunities to do so.

She is no stranger to working with first timers, as she previously starred in "Happiness", a movie that was helmed by writer and new director, Yiu Fai Lo.
