Kanye West returned to Twitter this weekend and let's just say it was about as weird and as Kanye as you could hope/dream/pray it would be. He started innocently enough with a picture of his favorite Saint Pablo tee, but it digressed from there in true Kanye fashion. Buckle up you guys, because these tweets are a wild ride. Let's go on this journey together, shall we?
First, he tweeted this picture of a Saint Pablo tee. Innocent enough, right? A little random but we're going with it.
From there, he pivoted to this picture, asking followers to "caption this." Okay, cool, no connection to the tweet before, but okay.
Then he gets really sentimental, tweeting this picture of him and former brother-in-law Lamar Odom.
my favorite moment of walking into MSG to play Saint Pablo, I used to go to the hospital and play Lamar the album when he was learning to walk and talk again Then we walked into the arena together pic.twitter.com/ysC5z5wDUA- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 15, 2018
He wrote, "my favorite moment of walking into MSG to play Saint Pablo, I used to go to the hospital and play Lamar the album when he was learning to walk and talk again Then we walked into the arena together" which feels very emotional by Kanye's standards.
Then he gets a little existential. Everyone loves philosophical Kanye, so do your best to decipher whatever is happening here:
Some people have to work within the existing consciousness while some people can shift the consciousness- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 16, 2018
often people working with the existing consciousness are jealous of those who are more in touch and they become hard-core capitalist in hopes of creating the illusion that the value of money is worth more than the value of time and friends- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 16, 2018
Interestingly enough, this has the same tone of some other quotes of his from the weekend. He spoke with his interior designer/friend Axel Vervoordt for The Hollywood Reporter and revealed the he's writing a philosophy book. Here's a sneak peak:
"And I've got this philosophy - or let's say it's just a concept because sometimes philosophy sounds too heavy-handed. I've got a concept about photographs, and I'm on the fence about photographs - about human beings being obsessed with photographs - because it takes you out of the now and transports you into the past or transports you into the future." Okay yeah, this makes total sense coming from the man whose wife is like, the most photographed woman on the planet. Let's proceed. Here are some shoes.
early 350 photoshop I showed Louise Wilson these the last night I saw her pic.twitter.com/gjOT1wbgPK- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 16, 2018
He says he showed them to Louise Wilson, who was his fashion mentor when he started to embark on his design career. Wilson died in 2014. Then there's a very harsh pivot to...
I asked my friend to design this neck tat for me pic.twitter.com/io0HUEDuWi- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 16, 2018
Neck tats?? Okay.
And we round out the tour with some more shoes.
still working to get these right pic.twitter.com/sgJgAbJa3W- KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 16, 2018
If you have any idea wtf is going on here, please lmk. I'm lost. Glad to see Kanye's back to his usual bizarre ways, though!
