Who better to share the spotlight with than your iconic supermodel mother? For the second time this week, Kaia Gerber did just that.
The 22-year-old model joined mom Cindy Crawford for a strut on the red carpet at the 2023 National Book Awards. After having matched in black monochromatic looks just a few days ago, the two used this opportunity to show off their different styles.
Gerber went the vintage route, opting for a strapless mocha dress from Ralph Lauren’s Fall/Winter 2001 runway. The piece featured a sleek dark brown leather panel across the neckline. She accessorized sparingly, opting for matching dark brown heeled sandals and some tiny hoop earrings.
Meanwhile, Crawford also made a statement via Ralph Lauren, though she opted for a totally different look. She wore a crisp ivory white suit featuring a fitted single-breasted blazer and a pair of high-rise tapered trousers. She tucked a silky white blouse into her pants, then finished off the look with a large white rectangular clutch, metallic black heels, a white beaded necklace, and stud earrings.
Earlier this week, the duo showed out in matching all-black outfits at Chelsea Factory’s Planet Omega exhibition. There, the Omega ambassadors spoke with Bazaar about the watch brand’s timelessness.
“I wear a watch every day, even though I never look at it for time, layered with other chain bracelets,” Crawford said. “It’s a way to accessorize that feels super easy.”
Gerber added, “I have never lived at a time when a watch was a necessity, so I think I have a very different relationship to them. For me, they feel super timeless and classic, in the way that people don’t read physical copies of books or listen to records on record players. There’s something really special about the sentiment of a watch, especially now because you don’t really need them anymore.”
