When is Justin Timberlake’s new album coming out? Prepare to keep waiting, guys
When producer Timbaland referenced Justin Timberlake’s personal and musical country roots in an interview last year, it gave us the impression that Timberlake’s new music might sound completely different than the pop/R&B sound we’re used to hearing from him. In addition to that, JT released a country song “Drink You Away” which suggested that perhaps he was preparing to switch his image up from “Suit & Tie” to something more along the lines of a Stetson hat and boots.
Fast forward several months and we’re basically still in the dark about the direction and the timeline of the singer’s music career, other than the fact that we now know Timberlake’s new album won’t be here anytime soon. During an appearance at Comic-Con, JT was super tight-lipped on the deets.
“I don’t want to say anything because I’ve put my foot in my mouth before about it and then I took seven years,” he told Entertainment Weekly about taking such a long time to release 2013’s The 20/20 Experience, the followup to his 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds. “I can say I won’t do that,” he continued. “But we’ll see.”
Will it at least be here in 2017? 2018?!
“Definitely before that time period,” Timberlake said.
Mkay, Justin. We’ll let you make it for now, but we have to admit that the lack of info definitely has us feeling some type of way. The good thing is it seems like Timberlake’s not going to troll fans with a string of meaningless updates, and hopefully they can appreciate that. On the other hand, nothing he said really helps with the very real thirst JT lovers are undoubtedly experiencing during the wait for his album to drop.

In the end, playing it safe with the album release info is probably best for all involved. Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling” is a worthy diversion, but let’s hope that this time around, his new tunes arrive quicker than it took Juno to make a space voyage to Jupiter.
