Update: Early reports that suggested Zack Synder’s ‘Justice League’ could clock in at 170 minutes appear to be unfounded. The Wrap is reporting that the film’s runtime has not been finalised yet, adding the “filmmakers aren’t close to knowing the precise runtime as of now.”

Although IMDB lists the film’s runtime at 2 hours 50 minutes, it’s worth pointing out that – like Wikipedia – pages can be edited by users and so data on a film’s page isn’t always foolproof.

Anyone who was a bit concerned by the tone of the ‘Justice League’ trailer, should perhaps look away now. Because the run-time has been released… and it’s clocking in at nearly three hours, according to IMDb.

Yes, Zack Snyder’s follow-up to ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ will run at 170 minutes, just 10-minutes shy of three hours.

That makes it the longest comicbook movie in recent memory, beating Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ by a full five minutes (though Snyder’s own director’s cut of ‘Watchmen’ beats them all convincingly, running at three-hours and 35 minutes).

For more perspective, the ‘Avengers’ movies, which will be Justice League’s cinematic benchmark, have all run significantly shorter.

‘Avengers Assemble’ came in at 143 minutes, while ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ was even shorter at 141 minutes.

Even ‘Captain America: Civil War’, which also crammed in a solid number of superheroes and villains, managed to curb its run-time at 147 minutes.

The first trailer for the movie, which will see Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg all sharing the bill, arrived last weekend, preceded by much teasing courtesy of the Warner Bros marketing department.

But it received a mixed response from fans, some loving it, some fearing that it could be dour ‘BvS’ all over again.

The movie, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane and J.K. Simmons – alongside Ciarán Hinds as supervillain Steppenwolf – is due out on November 17.
