Jurassic World: Dominion is a celebration of the whole franchise, says Colin Trevorrow
Jurassic World: Dominion’s co-writer and director Colin Trevorrow says that the upcoming blockbuster is a “celebration of the whole franchise.”
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Trevorrow described Dominion’s cast as a “true ensemble,” with the stars of the original Jurassic Park, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, starring alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Trevorrow insisted that the returning cast are no smaller than Pratt and Howard’s characters in Dominion, before then going on to tantalisingly tease that it is the “culmination of one story that’s been told.”

The filmmaker then went on to describe how Dominion would feel different to 2001’s Jurassic Park III, which brought the original Jurassic Park trilogy to a conclusion.
“It’s very much a serialized story. What was important for me was, when you watch Dominion, you really feel like you are learning how much of a story that first set of movies was and how everything that happened in those movies actually informs what ultimately is able to happen in this.”
Trevorrow also took this opportunity to explain why he returned to direct Jurassic World: Dominion, having previously directed Jurassic World back in 2015, which brought the franchise back to the big screen after a fourteen year hiatus.

“Honestly, it's because I love it. I don't really have a better answer than that. I've been very fortunate to be involved in a lot of different kinds of stories, and after working with J.A. Bayona, (the director of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) on the last film, that was inspiring for me in its own way, to see how another filmmaker interpreted that middle chapter of the story.”
“I was genuinely moved by the experience. I was going through a tough time myself. So to dive back into this world of dinosaurs with another filmmaker and make something we believed in, it made me want to finish what we started.”
