It seems ‘Jurassic World 2’ is heading underwater.

And it involves some kind of ‘epic’ submarine scene.

During the casting process for ‘Jurassic World 2’, actor Kevin Layne managed to book an audition for a small speaking role… and it seems he’s happy to offer up some details.

“I read for two parts, and ended up getting the role of ‘submarine pilot’, which was the role I wanted as it is quite an epic scene,” he revealed via talent agency, MSFT Management. “So I should have a nice cinematic moment on screen in a massive studio film.”

“Filming starts in May,” he added. “Hopefully I’ll be in one of their amazing contraptions, pretending that there’s dinosaurs around me. I’ve never worked with CGI before so it’s fun and challenging. But I can now say to people ‘You know there’s no dinosaur there right?’”

So what’s this ‘epic’ sub scene all about?

Traditionally, the ‘Jurassic Park’ films have steered clear of the water… but a rather epic scene in ‘Jurassic World’ saw the colossal Mosasaurus rear its head. First seen by the young Gray Mitchell (Ty Simpkins) as part of the park’s attractions, it later devoured one of the park’s assistants, as well as dragging the wounded Indominus Rex underwater at the end of the film.

Will any of this tie into the upcoming sequel?

I can’t help wondering whether Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) will be forced to return to Isla Nublar… and they might not be the only ones. Although she was just a lowly assistant, the ill-fated Zara (who was eaten by Mosasaurus) may have been holding on to some corporate secrets.

And following the events of ‘Jurassic World’ InGen may be forced to try and recover them.

But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Jurassic World 2’ stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, B.D. Wong, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith and Ted Levine.

J.A. Bayona will direct the movie, based on a script by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.

‘Jurassic World 2’ heads to cinemas on 8 June 2018.
