Julia Barretto understands why parents were against showbiz career

10 May – Julia Barretto recently admitted that she has now understands why her family once tried to prevent her from joining showbiz.

The actress, who sat down for an interview with "Between Maybes" co-star Gerald Anderson on "Magandang Buhay", shared that her parents, Marjorie Barretto and Dennis Padilla once sat her down for a long talk with her about her dream of becoming an actor.

"It's what I had really wanted to do since I was a kid. They saw that it's what I really enjoyed doing. But they have been in the industry for a long time, so they know the pain of working in [showbiz]," she said.

Barretto said that at one point, her parents even tried to suppress it, but relented when they saw how much she wanted it.

"At the time, I don't understand why. But now I fully understand it, I become super protective of my sister [seven-year-old Erich Barretto]. I experienced the difficulties, the pain, the fatigue. If you could save somebody from all of that, you will," she said.
