1 Oct – Julia Barretto recently revealed that she has left Star Magic to sign with Viva Artists Agency.
As reported on Rappler, the actress shared the news at the online press conference held by the said entertainment agency, saying that she made her decision following the retirement of Star Magic head Mariole Alberto and after speaking to chairman Johnny Manahan about it.
"With the announcement of Ms. Mariole's retirement, I just felt that it was going to be an opportunity for me to really explore my other options and see other opportunities. When I met with Viva management, they really laid in a really good plan and they were really willing to help me out," she said.
Barretto added that while she is no longer a part of Star Magic, she will always cherish the opportunity given to her and thankful for all the lessons the company instilled in her.
"Tita Mariole really instilled in me how important it is to have a relationship with the people in the management, with people you are working with. Aside from the business, the important thing is the relationship that you have, so that's a value that I will bring with me into another family of mine – valuing relationships, creating relationships, making your new family feel that you trust them and the trust is reciprocated."
In the same conference, she also denied rumours that she backed out from the new series "Cara Y Cruz", saying that she was present for all the meetings and script readings before being told that she was being replaced as she was no longer a Star Magic artiste.
However, Barretto stated that she understands the company's stance and has no hard feelings over the situation.
