Good things come in pairs: Golden Village Pictures recently announced that Jujutsu Kaisen: Zero will be opening in Singapore cinemas on 10 March; Jujutsu Kaisen also shared on their Twitter that a new season is scheduled for a 2023 release in Japan.

A prequel movie to the hit anime series, Jujutsu Kaisen: Zero made its premiere in Japan last Christmas Eve. It features the story of Yuta Okkotsu, voiced by Megumi Ogata.

When he was young, Yuta lost his childhood friend Rika, who then turned into a Curse. Rika follows Yuta around, causing harm to the people around him using her immense power. On the suggestion of special grade jujutsu sorcerer and teacher Satoru Gojo, Yuta learns to control Rika’s power at Jujutsu High School and vows to break this curse of a “loved one”.

The anime series Jujutsu Kaisen is set at this very high school and follows the experiences of Yuta’s junior Yuji Itadori, who becomes the host of a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. The first season was released in 2020 to rave reviews.

Apart from its estimated Japanese release in 2023, no details have been given yet about the second season, including the international release. But the eager fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are already excited:

“I’m so elated!”

“We have been waiting for the second season.”

“I’ll be re-watching the first season while waiting for the second season.”

“I’m looking forward to the second season next year!”

“I’m so happy that I’m crying.”
