Judd Apatow: Ghostbusters Haters Probably Support Donald Trump

Judd Apatow has waded into the impromptu criticism over the new ‘Ghostbusters’ film by insisting that those who are already hating the reboot probably support Donald Trump.

The ‘Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping’ producer made this comparison to Uproxx, declaring, “I would assume there’s a very large crossover of people who are doubtful ‘Ghostbusters’ will be great and people excited about the Donald Trump candidacy. I would assume they are the exact same people.”

Apatow made it clear what side of the ‘Ghostbusters’ fence he’s on when he empathetically added, “That movie is made by the great Paul Feig and stars the funniest people on Earth, so I couldn’t be more excited.”

Apatow believes the too much attention is being paid to the ‘Ghostbusters’ naysayers, who he describes as “angry trolls.” Instead, Apatow continued, the film should “be judged on its own greatness.”

Describing why it is a great idea for ‘Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig and his new ‘Ghostbusters’ team of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon to make a brand-new instalment to the franchise, Apatow added, “I always think, you know, we have our past and if you can come up with a new, cool way to do something, then that’s exciting and hopefully it will make a lot of people happy.”

Unfortunately, even though ‘Ghostbusters’ is still over a month away from release, there has been a huge amount of backlash surrounding the film from die-hard fans who feel an ownership of the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel .

Paul Feig and the new ‘Ghostbusters’ team have fought back against misogynistic comments surrounding its release, while Melissa McCarthy recently insisted that she hopes the naysayers “find a friend.”

Expect this battle to heat up exponentially ahead of ‘Ghostbusters’’ July 11 release date.
