Josh Duggar Faces a Lawsuit for Using This Guy's Photo on Ashley Madison

From Cosmopolitan

Last year, 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar not only admitted that he molested young girls when he was a teenager but also was exposed as a cheater in the hack of AshleyMadison.com. It led the eldest Duggar sibling to admit he had been a "hypocrite" and check into rehab. And now, that behavior has reportedly led to a lawsuit.

TMZ reports that Matthew McCarthy, the man whose photo Duggar used on Ashley Madison, OkCupid, and even Twitter, is suing for the wrongful use of his image. McCarthy, who works as a photographer and a DJ under the name MVRK, claims in the suit that people now call him "DJ Duggar" and "Duggar's boy toy," and that he has lost work based on the association. Plus, he claims that his strong Catholic upbringing makes it extra-embarrassing to have his image associated with infidelity.

He told Gawker last year that his photo has been used in many other "catfishing" attempts in the past, and he sometimes gets messages from people letting him know that his picture is being used against his will. He has no idea who originally stole his photo from his Facebook page, but it ended up on a blog with the caption "Random Guy From Facebook," and ever since then, his image pops up on Google when you search that term.

He first heard about Duggar's image use when he got a Facebook message from an old high school teacher. At that point, he had never heard of the Duggar family.

"Initially, I just kind of thought it was funny," McCarthy said. "But then I started reading. Now that I've found out that this guy's a child molester, and he's unfaithful and all those other things - it's awful!" McCarthy now seeks an unspecified amount of money in damages.
