Joseph Gordon-Levitt Plays Drums in the Subway, Gets Mistaken for Pee-wee

To the fine viral-video tradition of famous people busking in the subway, add a new clip from Joseph Gordon-Levitt (watch it above), which shows the musically gifted actor wailing on a drum kit for 30 seconds at an L.A. metro station. Predictably, most passengers don’t notice or care — but thanks to his slim-fitting suit, Gordon-Levitt does get confused for a certain other film icon. (Hint: He played the starring role in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure.)

The video is a promo for a project called Everyday, Spectacular, created in partnership with LG and Gordon-Levitt’s “open-collaborative production company”/TV show, HITRECORD, which challenges artists to turn everyday situations into spectacular moments. Of course, Gordon-Levitt isn’t the first star to do the subway stunt: violinist Joshua Bell, U2, and Michael Bublé are among those who’ve shared their talents with semi-oblivious commuters.
