Joseph Cheng: Give Darren Wang chance to prove himself
20 Sep – Taiwanese actor Joseph Cheng would like fans of his past idol drama, "It Started with a Kiss" to give Darren Wang a chance to prove himself in the movie adaptation of the said drama.
As reported on Singtao Daily, Joseph, who became popular for his role as Jiang Zhishu in the drama when it came out in 2005, said that he is confident that the actor will be able to do a good job.
"Don't give him such pressure. There have been many examples of drama characters being played by different people. There will always be new versions and people's preferences are varied anyway," he said.
Joseph stated that instead of criticising the project, audiences should instead be happy that the hit drama is getting a movie remake.
To be directed by Frankie Chen, the upcoming mainland movie adaptation of the drama stars "Our Times" star Darren Wang and mainland's Jelly Lin Yun of "The Mermaid" fame.
The original Taiwanese drama was adapted from the Japanese manga series, "Itazura na Kiss" written by Kaoru Tada about a girl finding herself living under the same roof with the boy she likes, who also has rejected her before.
