Jon Stewart Turned Down A Star Wars: The Force Awakens Cameo
Some lucky individuals fulfilled their childhood dreams when J.J. Abrams offered them cameos in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.
But it turns out that legendary American comedian Jon Stewart actually had the gall to turn down the chance to briefly appear in the blockbuster.
According to Empire, Jon Stewart was offered the opportunity to appear as a Stormtrooper in ‘The Force Awakens’, but the former host of ‘The Daily Show’ turned it down because he only wanted to play a good guy.
Unfortunately stormtrooper cameos were the only ones being offered out, which meant that Stewart’s void was then filled by the likes of Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, film composer Micahel Giacchio, and 007 himself Daniel Craig.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’’ editor Mary Jo Markey has now come out and explained which stormtroopers were played by rather famous individuals.
“There are other stormtroopers to look out for,” she declared, via Digital Spy. “Daniel Craig, Michael Giacchino, who hails Poe up to Kyo Ren in the village scene, and American comedian Ben Schwartz. Plus Kevin Smith voiced one in the castle battle.”
It had previously been revealed that Daisy Ridley’s Rey uses the force to control Daniel Craig’s stormtrooper, who unwillingly frees her from her shackles.
Jon Stewart’s close pal Stephen Colbert, who worked together on ‘The Daily Show’, now has one up on his old friend. That’s because the current host of ‘The Late Show’ played a Laketown spy in ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’, which he acquired because of his immense knowledge of J.R.R. Tolkein’s books.
But there’s still time for Jon Stewart to reconsider. In fact, if we see a stormtrooper making political jokes in either ‘Star Wars 8′ or ‘Star Wars 9′ then we know that the comedian has had a change of heart.
