Jon Favreau to Direct First Episode of Seth MacFarlane Fox Comedy Series

Jon Favreau will direct and executive produce the first episode of Seth MacFarlane‘s new Fox comedy series, TheWrap has learned.

The director will then stay on as a consultant, since the project was ordered direct-to-series.

The untitled series is set 300 years in the future. It follows the adventures of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s interstellar fleet.

MacFarlane stars on the show, along with Adrianne Palicki and Scott Grimes, Peter Macon and J Lee, all playing members of the ship’s crew.

The 13-episode, one-hour show has already landed a straight-to-series order under MacFarlane’s longstanding overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV. The pilot will film in January.

Favreau most recently directed Disney’s “Jungle Book” and is set to direct the sequel as well. He is represented by CAA.
