Jon Favreau's "Star Wars" series finally found its lead

14 Nov – The first live-action "Star Wars" series has found its lead actor in the form of Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal.
The 43-year-old has long been rumoured as one of the actors being considered for the lead role in "The Mandalorian" and Variety now confirms that the actor is in talks to star in it.
Known for starring in TV series such as "Game of Thrones" and "Narcos", Pascal is also a frequent face on the big screen, with movie credits that include "The Great Wall", "Kingsman: The Golden Circle", "The Equalizer 2" and the upcoming "Wonder Woman 1984".
Once Pascal seals the deal, he will join the series' team that comprises writer and executive producer Jon Favreau, and episodic directors Dave Filoni ("Star Wars: The Clone Wars", "Star Wars Rebels"), Taika Waititi ("Thor: Ragnarok"), Bryce Dallas Howard ("Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"), Rick Famuyiwa ("Dope") and Deborah Chow ("Jessica Jones").
Set after the events of "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi" and before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", the series follows the adventures of a lone gunslinger after the fall of the Empire and before the First Order emerges.
Early last month, Lucasfilm revealed the first photo of the series (pictured above), showing that the gunslinger, which we now know will be played Pascal, will wear the iconic armour bounty hunter Boba Fett made famous.

Additionally, ComingSoon.net is reporting that each episode of the series will cost USD10 million, giving the 10-episode first season a combined budget of USD100 million.
"The Mandalorian" has no release date set yet but it will premiere on Disney+ after the Disney streaming service launches in late 2019.
There are two live-action "Star Wars" series in the making. The second one will be a prequel to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", with Diego Luna reprising his role as Cassian Andor.
