John Stamos and His Wife Caitlin McHugh Have the Best Engagement Story Ever

There’s no denying that Full House star John Stamos (who played the iconic Uncle Jesse) wowed fans and viewers as a sweet, funny on-screen husband in the show. But, as it turns out, he has a pretty epic love story in real life, too.

While the actor, comedian and producer was married once before (to Rebecca Romijn from 1998 to 2005), nowadays, all eyes are on John (who currently stars as Marvyn Korn in Disney+'s Big Shot) and his model-actress wife, Caitlin McHugh. The couple got married in 2018 and shortly after, welcomed their first child together. And it's really no surprise that John and Caitlin have one of the cutest love stories ever.

How John and Caitlin Met

When you first hear of John and Caitlin’s age difference — he’s 57 and she’s 34 — you may wonder how they met. In true Hollywood fashion, the couple first met back in 2015 while on set filming an episode of Law & Order: SVU. John was playing a "reproductive abuser" who wanted to get Caitlin's character pregnant, in an attempt to have as many children as possible.

While Caitlin was seeing someone at the time of filming, the two reconnected in 2015 on the set of Fuller House. Caitlin’s roommate had an appearance on the show, so she happened to be watching from the audience one day.

In a 2017 interview with People, John recounted the meeting and said, "I walked in, I went, ‘Hey, are you stalking me?’ She was like, ‘No …’ That’s why I love her," the General Hospital star said. "She’s like, ‘What? No. I haven’t thought of you twice.'”

How John Proposed to Caitlin

After reconnecting on the set of Fuller House, John and Caitlin hit it off and began dating. Nearly two years later in October 2018, John got down on one knee at Disneyland (Caitlin’s favorite place) and popped the question.

“He put together some of the most romantic moments from Disney and Pixar animation [in a video],” Lara Spencer of Good Morning America reported. “And then he ended it with Sebastian from The Little Mermaid saying, ‘Just ask the girl’ to John.”

John and Caitlin's Wedding and Family

John and Caitlin were engaged for just under two months when they found out that they were expecting. Given John’s longtime wish to be a father — he revealed to Us Weekly in 2015 that his “ovaries [were] rattling” — they welcomed the news with the utmost excitement.

A few months before their son's arrival, in February 2018, John and Caitlin officially tied the knot. Caitlin shared a sweet photo in her mouse ears and veil, along with the caption: "Perfect way to begin our #happilyeverafter Can you guess who we’re #disneybound -ing as? (Hint: I’ve painted the walls in the tower in the background)"

Then, in April of 2018, John and Caitlin welcomed Billy Stamos.

And as they say in Disney, they lived happily ever after.
