John Oates Sells Nashville Condo, Buys House Once Owned by Taylor Swift (EXCLUSIVE)

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: The always vigilant Bizzy Boys at Celebrity Address Aerial sent word that musician John Oates, one half of the top selling late ‘70s and early ‘80s rock and soul duo Hall & Oates, recently sold a small condo in downtown Nashville and right about the same time shelled out $2.21 million for a spacious house a few miles away that was once and briefly owned by pop-country music queen Taylor Swift.
The downtown condo, which property records show the singer, guitarist and producer snapped up in January 2011 for $255,000 and sold at a healthy profit for $520,000, has 1,108-square-feet with two bedrooms and two spacious bathrooms. There are glossy polished concrete floors throughout and a loft-like open-concept living/dining/kitchen space with floor to ceiling windows and glass sliders that open to a small balcony that overlooks the luxury complex’s courtyard and swimming pool.
The house acquired Mister Oates and his wife, Aimee, a 1920s reclaimed brick Tudor, sits on .6-acres in the leafy, wealthy and historic Whitland neighborhood and measures in according to the most recent digital listings at 5,574-square-feet with four bedrooms and three full two half bathrooms. Listing details describe the house as an “architecturally rare” and “perfectly renovated” with “Absolutely the finest screened in porch/living room” in all of Nashville. Taylor Swift, newly single yet again after a brief summer romance with English actor Tom Hiddleston, bought the Whitland property in September 2010 for $1.4 million. So the celebrity real estate scuttlebutt goes it was acquired as a residence for her parents but after she picked up another much more grand residence almost exactly a year later — also rumored to have been bought for her parents — the property was sold at a bit of a loss for $1.35 million.
Property records show Mister Oates, who will release a memoir next spring entitled “Change of Seasons” and was inducted with his former band mate Daryl Hall in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, has long maintained a residence just outside of Aspen in Woody Creek, CO, where in 1994 he paid $660,000 for a four acre parcel that includes a 5,929-square-foot house with three bedrooms and three bathrooms.
