Sooooo, John Mayer went ahead and joined TikTok yesterday, and it…did not go as expected for him. The singer arrived on the app on Monday, first posting a video of himself having a hard time using his camera, which he captioned, “How do use tik tok ## how do you use tik tok google.con how to use tik tok.”

As E! News first reported, his post was swarmed with comments from Taylor Swift fans who had some thoughts, including, per E!, “We will never forget what you did to our girl Taylor,” “This was not the right app to join, John…#DearJohn,” and “Tiktok knew what they were doing by putting this on every Taylor Swift stan’s FYP.”

John seemingly responded to the comments, posting another TikTok of himself nodding his head, which he captioned, “POV: You’re berating me and I’m hearing you out.”

He ended his day one adventures on the app by singing, “That was a weird day, that was a weird, weird day,” and musing, “Good night, new friends.”

Reminder: John and Taylor dated from 2009 to 2010, and her song “Dear John” is rumored to be about him. John had a lot of thoughts on the song at the time, complaining to Rolling Stone in what some might say was a pretty immature interview that Taylor never checked in with him: “I never got an email. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”

He added, “I will say as a songwriter that I think it’s kind of cheap songwriting. I know she’s the biggest thing in the world, and I’m not trying to sink anybody’s ship, but I think it’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait till he gets a load of this!’ That’s bullshit.”

Welp. Have fun on TikTok, John Mayer!
