3 Oct – Fans of John Lloyd Cruz who are excited about his showbiz comeback in "Culion" should hold back a little, as the actor recently clarified that his character in the upcoming movie is not more than a cameo.

As reported on Push, the actor recently released a statement following the release of the trailer for the said Metro Manila Film Festival movie, saying that he thought his appearance in the last part of the trailer was pre-emptive and was the opposite of what he actually agreed on.

"As much as I am drawn to the idea of letting my work, of any kind, have its own life and take its own course in terms of output (unmindful of how it mutates, grows and sometimes gets diminished) I am also wary of misleading an audience. That wouldn't be fair. Hence, I felt compelled to clarify my participation in the film," he added.

Fans recently expressed excitement after watching the said teaser trailer, after Cruz's face was shown in the last seconds of the video. The actor has not been seen in any new acting projects since his indefinite hiatus in 2017.

It was further fuelled by producer Shandi Bacolod's statement that Cruz's role is very important in the movie.

The movie, which was written by famed screenwriter Ricky Lee, stars Iza Calzado, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and Meryll Soriano as residents of the leper community in the island of Culion in the 1940s.
