Joel Chan cherishes second chance at love and friendship

17 Aug - After his failed marriage, his highly-criticised relationship and subsequent high-profile breakup from Florinda Ho, Joel Chan admitted that he is blessed to be able to move on from the past with new girlfriend Apple.

The actor, who sat down for an interview with Mingpao recently, shared that there was a time in his life that he thought that all the negative things that were happening in his life - especially after he and Florinda broke up in 2013 - would ruin his career.

However, he is now back with TVB and is happy to be in a stable relationship with Apple.

"My girlfriend is clear about my past and accepted me for who I am," he said.

Joel added that he used to worry that nobody would be willing to accept him and be with him, but that he continued to show a positive attitude, in hopes that others can feel it too.

When asked if he has plans to marry Apple, Joel said that that is the goal when they started dating.

"We are not young. Hopefully [we'll get married] in one or two years. Who knows, maybe this year. Marriage is about timing," he said.

On the other hand, Joel is also happy to finally reconcile with good friend Christine Ng, of whom he had a fall out with a few years ago.

"The fall-out with Christine was the biggest knot in my heart, and now we're friends again. This is the greatest blessing for me in 2017," he said.
