Jodi Sta. Maria slams politicians over prioritised COVID-19 testing

25 Mar – Jodi Sta. Maria recently expressed her frustration over news that there has been politicians asking to be prioritised when it comes to COVID-19 testing.

As reported on Push, the actress recently retweeted a post from ABS-CBN News reporter Chiara Zambrano, who quoted a medical doctor who expressed his or her frustration over requests from numerous politicians to be given a VIP treatment for coronavirus testing.

The post read, "This is bogging down the COVID-19 testing. Politicians and their staff are now asking to be serviced in their homes by the DOH surveillance team. We have so many PUIS waiting their results, and we can't send (home) the PUMs who have been admitted the week before because we don't have results yet."

The said doctor also asked for the media to investigate this system, so that they are able to alleviate the overburdened emergency rooms.

Sta. Maria, who was clearly disturbed by such improper use of power, tweeted, "This should not [be happening]. I wish we could disclose who these people are."

In another post, the actress urged the public to donate, reminding them that the group of people that are at the highest risk of COVID-19 are the elderly, adding that they needed to have a stronger resistance and to never leave the house at this time.

"The office of Senator Risa Hontiveros and the Coalition of Services of the Elderly (COSE) will distribute immunopacks to our senior citizens. They will buy vitamins, milk, food supplies, face masks, etc. They need our help. If you are able, please donate for our grandparents!" she added.
