Is This Joanna Gaines's Strangest TV Show Yet?

Chip and Joanna Gaines are always working on new projects, and the home reno experts' latest may be their strangest yet: a roller skating dance competition series. In development by Magnolia Network for Max, the forthcoming untitled project seems slightly off-course from the couple's design-centric lifestyle empire.

Set to be released in early 2024, Magnolia Network touts the project as the first-ever nationwide series of its kind. The family-friendly show will feature the top roller-skating crews across America including teams from Atlanta, Houston, Las Vegas, Nashville, New York, and St. Louis. “Putting on a pair of roller skates is like reuniting with your childhood," the Gaineses, who are executive producers of the series, said in a press release. "There’s just something about it that appeals to everyone."

The couple added, "Kids, adults, and everyone in between will have fun watching these talented crews come together and skate their hearts out, and we are so excited to bring this nostalgic competition to life."

There's no word yet on where the competition will take place. With the couple's emphasis on nostalgia, we suspect a '70s roller disco theme is in the running as a backdrop to the challenge—whether the show is filmed on location or on a studio soundstage. If Chip and Joanna were to take on a roller rink reno, that would certainly make excellent bonus content. Stay tuned for more updates!
