Justice League’s J.K. Simmons Reveals Why He’s Now So Muscular

Earlier this month, J.K. Simmons basically broke the internet when pictures of his insanely jacked body started to do the rounds online.

Why was the ‘Whiplash’ actor now so pumped? Was it for ‘Justice League’? Will his Commissioner Gordon beat Batman and Superman in a fight?

J.K. Simmons has now explained all, admitting that it was all just a coincidence. That’s because the dramatic change in his appearance was all of his own making after he’d become a little too flabby around the edges for his liking.

After being asked by Business Insider whether he’d become muscular because he’d been in the thick of the action in ’Justice League’, Simmons responded, “This is all coincidental. After the second and final time that I got hugely fat in my life and when I lost that weight six or seven years ago, I pretty much decided that I was going to stay in decent shape for the rest of my life.”

Simmons was adamant that he’s not going to drastically alter the appearance of Jim Gordon, who in the comics, as well as previous movie incarnations, has always appeared more wiry than muscular. Simmons insisted, “I’m not going to mess with something that iconic.”

He also added that he was in a similar impressive physique for ‘Terminator Genisys’, but his body was then covered by jackets and shirts, which is likely to be the same in ‘Justice League.’

During the same interview, Simmons recalled that after getting into such diabolical shape he found himself despondently watching his role in HBO’s ‘Oz’, which provoked a reaction of, ‘Wow, I don’t believe this guy at all. I have to get my ass to the gym and be a believable hard-ass’.”

We’ll get to see how much of a hard-ass J.K. Simmons can make Jim Gordon when ‘Justice League’ is finally released next November.
