J.J. Abrams: Leaving Skywalker Out Of Star Wars Trailer Was 'No Accident'

Ramping up the intrigue, director J.J. Abrams has said that leaving Luke Skywalker out of both the poster and final trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ was 'no accident’.

Fans have been positing all manner of wild theories about why - bar a snapshot of his hand - Mark Hamill’s feted Jedi master is missing from much of the pre-movie hype since last week’s grand unveiling (so far the last trailer has been viewed a staggering 50 million times).

Speaking to the Associated Press, Abrams said: “These are good questions to be asking. I can’t wait for you to find out the answer.”

He added: “It’s no accident.”

So could fans be on to something?

Some are suggesting that Luke won’t appear in the movie until much later on, with a chunk of the action involving tracking him down.

Others have more outlandish theories, including that he may have been turned to the dark side, acting as puppet-master to Adam Driver’s Vader-worshipping Kylo Ren, what with Luke being Darth’s only son and all.

It’s even been suggested that behind the mask Skywalker IS Kylo Ren, but that could well be a theory too far.

Abrams went on to say where the movie is at right now, and seemingly, there are still a few finishing touches being made.

“We’re in the editing room, working on the cut, going over visual effects and doing reviews,” Abrams said.

“We still have another scoring session with John Williams, who is a god when it comes to music.

“So it’s been an ongoing, surreal experience, and I just cannot wait for the movie to be out in the world.”

We shall discover the truth about Luke on December 17, when 'The Force Awakens’ is unleashed across the UK.
