Jimmy Kimmel Hires Doctor Strange for Kids Birthday Party (Video)

Jimmy Kimmel is known in Hollywood for his generosity on other people’s birthdays, but probably not so much for his judgment in planning their parties.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host recently made the terrible mistake of hiring Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for a kids birthday bash. Strange, who casually teleported in a half-hour late, thinks he’s there to vanquish the “little demons,” who have hit the frosting a tad too hard. In reality, Kimmel just wants the man who self-identified on social media as “the mightiest magician in the cosmos” to do a few tricks for the tiny terrors.

Unfortunately, that’s not quite the “magic” the Marvel man does.

The Cumberbatch character admits to exaggerating his LinkedIn profile a bit, something Kimmel has clearly done as well — his reads “America’s Favorite Late Night Host.” The Nielsen TV ratings would clearly give a firm upper hand to that other Jimmy, however.

The good Doctor eventually sends rude birthday boy Marcus “home” — which appears to be one of the drearier lava pits of Hell — via a living room portal. It seems unlikely that the superhero is going to score that sweet $150 now. And, yes, Kimmel, you totally should have just hired a SpongeBob.

“Doctor Strange” hits theaters on Nov. 4.
