  • Rising country star Jimmie Allen and his fiancée Alexis Gale met in the spring of 2019.

  • The couple got engaged a few months later in June, and welcomed their first child together in March 2020.

Jimmie Allen, the 34-year-old country singer, is not only performing at the 2020 CMA Awards show, he’s also nominated for New Artist of the Year. Naturally, we wanted to learn more about the singer, so we did a deep dive on the Delaware native's background and path to stardom.

In doing so, we found out that Jimmie doesn’t just sing about fairytales (I mean, have you seen the “Make Me Want To” music video?), he’s living one, too! Keep reading to learn all about Jimmie’s real-life love story with his fiancée Alexis Gale.

They met through his cousin.

Jimmie and Alexis’ story seems like the plot of a fan-favorite rom-com. While the pair grew up in Milton, Delaware, they didn’t actually meet until the spring of 2019 when Jimmie’s cousin’s wife introduced them.

“With Alexis being from my hometown, it is like always having a piece of home with me. We had an immediate connection,” Jimmie told PEOPLE. “It was like we’d always known each other.”

Soon after, he popped the question.

After dating for just a few months, Jimmie popped the question to Alexis on June 15, 2019. The big moment took place at Disney World surrounded by family and friends in front of none other than Magic Kingdom’s iconic castle. (Like we said, a real-life fairytale!)

While some people might think the pair moved fast, sometimes when you know, you know. And, for Jimmie, there was never even a question.

"Her smile melts me, her pure heart challenges me to love better, the way she motivates and supports me is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, the way she loves me and my son is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced," Jimmie shared with PEOPLE. "It feels incredible to find the type of love I’ve been writing songs about all these years!"

They recently welcomed a child together.

Jimmie and Alexis welcomed their baby girl, Naomi Bettie Allen, on March 1, 2020. While Naomi is their first child together, the couple has also been raising Jimmie’s 5-year-old son, Aadyn, from a previous relationship. As if adding another member of the family isn’t exciting enough, that same day, Jimmie received the news that his song, “Make Me Want To” hit number one.

In an interview with morning show co-hosts Chuck Wicks and Trisha “T.J.” Jenkins, Jimmie shared, “I thought getting a number one [single] was going to be the best part of my day, but then my daughter, Naomi, was born yesterday. The baby’s middle name is Bettie, we named her after my grandma [who passed away in 2014], so her initials are NBA, go figure. And my grandma’s birthday was actually March 13, my mom’s birthday is March 7, and Naomi’s birthday is March 1. And Lexi is laying right here looking awesome.”

Earlier this year, Jimmie posted an adorable photo from Naomi's first birthday celebration at Walt Disney World on March 1, 2021.
