Jessica Chastain can’t bear to watch this movie of hers and we totally get why
Every actress has one movie they do and never watch again, even if it’s a great movie. The movie Jessica Chastain can’t bear to watch is sort of surprising, but then again, we totally get it.
The two-time Oscar nominee revealed which of her many famous flicks she doesn’t watch in a new interview with Huffington Post. But she doesn’t find the role embarrassing, instead, it’s such an emotional film, it simply overwhelms her.
The Movie:
Chastain opened up about not watching director Terrence Malick’s new film, Voyage of Time even though it uses footage from her film The Tree of Life, in which she starred alongside Brad Pitt.
“From the very beginning, Terry had said Voyage of Time was supposed to come out at the same time as Tree of Life, so we were all prepared for that movie,” Chastain told Huffington Post. “I’ve been shooting in Santa Fe and I haven’t had an opportunity to see that movie, but Tree of Life is one of my favorite films.”
The Reason Not To Watch It:
Despite the fact that the 2011 film, which followed a family’s journey through life, is one of Chastain’s favorites, she can’t watch it because of how touching and intense the story is.
“I haven’t been able to watch it since it came out because it’s so emotional for me. It was the high point of my life,” she explained.
Chastain further explained her reasoning in not watching The Tree of Life on repeat revealing that she loved her character, Mrs. O’Brien. The best part was how she was “the embodiment of love,” but it is still too emotional to see again, and we agree — such a tearjerker.
“Of course it affects you and how you treat other people. I loved those little boys so much, and I loved Terry so much,” Chastain revealed. “Watching the movie and seeing Mrs. O’Brien running through the streets with those little boys, I remember how wonderful it was. I’m heartsick for it.”
