Jessica Chastain one step closer to starring in "It" sequel

Jessica Chastain is in talks to play the adult Beverly Marsh in the "It" sequel, fulfilling fans' hopes.

21 Feb – Jessica Chastain, who is long rumored to star in the follow-up to last year's "It", might actually end up playing the adult version of Beverly Marsh.

The Academy Award-nominated actress is said to be in the early stage of negotiations to star in the "It" sequel, which is scheduled for release on 6 September 2019, as reported by Variety.

Prior to this, Chastain has long been linked to the horror project when director Andy Muschietti mentioned her as his personal top pick to play adult Beverly Marsh, a role played by Sophia Lillis in the 2017 horror hit.

Sophia Lillis played the teenage version of Beverly Marsh and is expected to return for the sequel in flashback scenes.

The "It" sequel, also known as "It: Chapter Two", will take place 27 years after the first movie, reuniting the Losers' Club to face the evil Pennywise the Dancing Clown once again.

As of now, Bill Skarsgård is the only confirmed cast member set to return as Pennywise.

Chastain, who has worked with Muschietti for 2013's "Mama", can be seen in "Molly's Game", now showing in cinemas, and will be in the new "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" in an unnamed role come November this year.
