Jessica Alba created her own lipsticks after struggling to find perfect nude

Jessica Alba decided to create her own line of liquid lipsticks after struggling to find the perfect nude shade for her complexion.

The L.A.’s Finest actress co-founded The Honest Company back in 2011, with the household product brand offering non-toxic and eco-friendly formulas. Jessica expanded the company to include beauty products in 2015, but only recently unveiled an eight-piece range of liquid lipsticks, all of which are available in flattering rose-browns and reds.

“We started by figuring out how to give a range of neutrals and provide a true nude for different skin tones with a few pops of colour. Everyone wants that perfect nude. I really struggle with nudes myself. It’s like one extreme or the other. I usually look like a corpse when I’m wearing other people’s nudes,” she told Marie Claire magazine. “Or, it looks like I’m wearing a ‘90s brown mauve colour. If you want a true nude for your complexion, it’s hard to find. Especially when you have a different skin tone that isn’t always accommodated for. So, we wanted to address that.”

The Honest Beauty Liquid Lipsticks are vegan-friendly and offer a matte finish. They are priced at $12.99 (£10). As for her upcoming launches, Jessica is currently working alongside her beauty team on a new type of foundation.

“What I love about a foundation is a buildable formula. I want a sheer coverage that’s still doing a little something something,” the mother-of-three explained. “But if I’m going to an event and need a different canvas, I want to be able to wear a few layers of it. How do you the most out of one product? It’s a challenge, but we're working on it. We've been working on it.”
