Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch's divorce has been finalised, the former couple's lawyers have announced.

A joint statement shared with The Mirror from Robert S Cohen, lawyer for Mr Murdoch, and Judy Poller, lawyer for Ms Hall read: "Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch have finalised their divorce. They remain good friends and wish each other the best for the future."

The media mogul, 91, and former supermodel, 66, married in March 2016 in London, and at the time Mr Murdoch referred to himself as “the luckiest and happiest man in the world".

The out-of-court settlement comes after Ms Hall had on Wednesday asked a Los Angeles judge to dismiss her divorce case against Mr Murdoch, weeks after requesting a disclosure of her estranged husband’s finances.

She filed for divorce last month, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

According to court documents filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday and seen by The Telegraph, Ms Hall’s lawyer requested a dismissal without elaborating.

In her penultimate filing, Ms Hall, who was seeking spousal support, claimed to be unaware of the full extent of her ex-husband's assets, with the documents stating that her divorce petition would be amended “when the information has been ascertained".

Records show in July the judge made an order as to Mr Murdoch’s financial information.

Ms Hall and Murdoch are reported to have signed a prenuptial agreement.

The Australian-born tycoon, who owns a number of media outlets including The Times, New York Post, Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, is worth an estimated $17.7 billion (£14 billion).

The Murdoch family’s shares in the empire are held by a trust with voting rights split between his four oldest children: Lachlan, Elisabeth, James and Prudence.

Ms Hall’s filing states that she is currently living at Mr Murdoch’s $37 million, 13-acre vineyard estate in Bel Air, a sprawling property that was built in the 1930s by Oscar-winning Gone With the Wind and Wizard of Oz director Victor Fleming.

She reportedly told friends she was “heartbroken” and “devastated” by the dissolution of the marriage and blamed Mr Murdoch’s adult children for the separation, according to the news outlet.

“They had a lot to say about it and a role in his personal life, which she found a nasty surprise. Clearly, they mistrusted her,” a source said.

The divorce is Mr Murdoch’s fourth and Ms Hall’s second, after her previous marriage to Rolling Stone Mick Jagger ended in an annulment. Ms Hall reportedly received more than $40 million in a settlement.
