Jerrold Tarog not involved in "Darna" series

15 Jan – It was revealed that director Jerrold Tarog will not be involved in the upcoming female superhero project "Darna" - which has now turned from movie to a TV series.

As reported on ABS-CBN News, the news was confirmed by the filmmaker on Twitter, following a fan's question about the project, saying, "Unfortunately, I'm not going to be involved in the TV series due to scheduling conflicts. But some doors remain open regarding my future involvement in the Ravelo universe. We will see."

"For now, I wish ABS-CBN and Jane de Leon all the best. Let's continue to support them," he added.

It is noted that the "Darna" TV series came about after ABS-CBN decided to postpone the movie project indefinitely due to the pandemic, much to the annoyance of Tarog, who has already shot roughly 40-minute movie time.

The female superhero project has been mired by many issues since its inception in 2015, from both lead actress and replacement Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano leaving the project due to physical injuries, to original director Erik Matti replaced by Tarog following creative differences.
