Jerrold Tarog will direct third historical film by 2021

17 Oct – Although filmmaker Jerrold Tarog is busy with his new superhero film, "Darna", production company, TBA Studios recently confirmed that the third instalment of the filmmaker's historical film trilogy will push through as planned.

As reported on Push, the studio president Vincent Nebrida, who brought the John Arcilla-starrer, "Heneral Luna" in 2015 and its second instalment "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" in 2018, revealed that the film will be produced after Tarog finished with the Star Cinema female superhero project.

"There is always some give and take. [Star Cinema] asked us, and we said yes. We loaned him. Why not? I consider Charo [Santos-Concio] a friend. I've known her for a long time," said Nebrida.

He added that they are currently researching for the third instalment, which will revolve around the life of Philippine president Manuel L. Quezon, who was previously portrayed by Benjamin Alves and TJ Trinidad in "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo", respectively.

On the other hand, TBA Studios founder Eduardo Rocha stated that they are proud to be doing these historical films.

"That's the kind of legacy we'd like to leave behind," he said.

The project is expected to begin filming in 2021.
