Jennifer Lopez isn't rushing into marriage with fiance Alex Rodriguez.
The couple got engaged a year ago and, while the On The Floor hitmaker is excited about "building something together" with her sportsman beau, their wedding isn't a priority.
"It's so funny because when we first got engaged I was like, 'Oooh, we're gonna get married in a couple months?'," she told Oprah Winfrey during the Los Angeles stop on the Oprah's 2020 Vision Tour on Saturday. "Your old thinking comes right back, all that hopeless romantic (stuff) that made me get married three times.
"He's like, 'Whatever you want to do, we can talk about it'. I said, 'But if we're going to be together for the rest of our lives, what is the rush?'"
Instead, she confessed the couple's main goal is to provide its kids with, "a family with a husband and a wife, and a mother and a father - and we embrace all of our children and we show them something that we didn't have".
She went on to acknowledge their relationship is "different" to her past romances, explaining, "I never had anybody who wants to see me shine and grow."
Jennifer has been married three times in the past, to waiter Ojani Noa, dancer Cris Judd, and singer Marc Anthony, the father of her 12-year-old twins Max and Emme. Alex shares his daughters Natasha, 15, and Ella, 11, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
