We always have and always will be obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence, but after reading her new Vogue cover story, we’re even more convinced that we should be BFFs with her. Apparently, her last movie was so stressful to film that Lawrence needed a “happy place” on set, which was basically a tent where she could hide from the world and consume all things Kardashian.
The 26-year-old actress said that filming her new thriller, Mother!, with her now-boyfriend Darren Aronofsky, was really, really intense. Once, Lawrence even hyperventilated on set so hard that she dislocated a rib. “I ended up getting on oxygen. I have oxygen tubes in my nostrils, and Darren’s like, ‘It was out of focus; we’ve got to do it again.’ And I was just like, ‘Go f*ck yourself,'” she said.
Between the darkness of the film’s plot, the intensity of the set, and the pressure of filming with Aronofsky, the crew made a “Kardashian tent” where Lawrence could calm down.
“It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and Keeping Up with the Kardashians playing on a loop — and gumballs,” Lawrence said.
“My happy place,” she added.
Can we get one of those, too? In fact, can we insist that all office buildings have a room for gumballs and reality TV?
Mother! looks really, really dark. Lawrence said that she had to “go to a darker place than I’ve ever been in my life. I didn’t know if I’d be able to come out OK” to get into character. Luckily, things seem to have turned out just fine. It was right after filming ended that she and Aronofsky started to be seen out together, though they weren’t dating on set. (Wouldn’t you kill your S.O. if they made you keep filming after dislocating a rib?)
The two seem really happy together. Lawrence said that she respects Aronofsky’s work and his role as a father to the son he has with Rachel Weisz.
“I’ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. And I’m never confused with him,” she said of her BF.
That sounds amazing. But we can’t help but wonder if she’s introduced him to the wonders of the Kardashians yet.
