Jelly Lin Yun thankful for all recognition

24 Mar - Fresh from winning the Rising Star of Asia Award at the 11th Asian Film Awards, Jelly Lin Yun recently acknowledged the fact that she is one of the few who are lucky enough to get a big break early in their career.

According to Mingpao, the young star, who appeared at the AFA press conference in her jeans and t-shirt, shared that she is just delighted to have won the award, and to be nominated for Best New Actor at the upcoming Hong Kong Film Awards as well.

"I am just so happy with the recognition. I would like to thank [director] Stephen Chow and my family for everything," she said.

Speaking of Stephen, Lin was asked about a recent photo circulating online of her and the comedy auteur acting chummy with each other. She responded that the photo was taken at a press conference of a movie they were promoting.

Lin stated that she has no qualms working with Stephen again, whom she regarded as her mentor. However, Lin said that it would all depend on Stephen himself.

As to how she would show her gratitude to "The Mermaid" director, the actress admitted that she has plans to treat him to a meal, although it would depend on his schedule as well.

On the other hand, the actress said that she has no issue with the media comparing her to the award-winning Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, whom she shared many similarities with in terms of looks and acting style.

"She is my idol. To be compared to her is an honour for me," she said.
