Jelly Lin Yun is grateful to Stephen Chow

23 Feb - Just like Cecilia Cheung and Kitty Zhang who launched their career as a Sing Girl, starlet Jelly Lin Yun admitted that she owes all her fame to her mentor, actor-director Stephen Chow.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress, who started her career in the film industry through Stephen's movie, "The Mermaid", stated that the comedy auteur not only introduced her to the movie business, but also acted as her mentor.

"When I was filming the movie, sometimes I had to do a scene for more than 20 times due to my lack of experience. But he was very tolerant. He would teach me in person and sometimes help me understand my role on the phone," she said.

Lin stated that Stephen was like a father who would try to show his children the right way.

"He has this earnestness in him. He said that an actor must have an imagination, or he will not go very far. He's like family to me," she added.

With the success of "The Mermaid", Lin recently returned with another Stephen Chow movie, "Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back".

This time, the actress' improved performance not only won the respect of director Tsui Hark, but also the audiences who saw the movie.
