18 Aug – Fans of Chinese reality show "The Rap of China 2020" was perplexed over news that Korean rapper Jay Park will be joining the show as one of the mentors.
As reported on SETN, the news of Park's involvement was received with mixed reaction, with netizens questioning the rapper's inability to speak or understand Chinese, especially since the programme requires its contestants to rap in the said language.
One netizen posted, "Why would you invite a mentor who can't even understand the language? They will need translators to interpret his words."
Another netizen also questioned how the broadcaster would censor the many tattoos from Park's body, seeing that such a thing could not be shown on television.
Aside from Park, four other artistes - Kris Wu, GAI, Wilber Pan, and Jane Zhang - have been announced as this year's mentors. It is noted that both Wilber Pan and Kris Wu are American and Canadian, while Jane herself is fluent in English.
