After concluding their stop in Taiwan just last month, South Korean label AOMG brought their ‘Follow The Movement’ tour to Singapore for the first time on Monday (1 May) at the Suntec Convention Hall.

AOMG, short for Above Ordinary Music Group, is a recognisable name among fans of the Korean hip-hop scene. The label consists of renowned producers and rappers such as Gray, Loco, Simon Dominic and Jay Park, the founder of AOMG, who were all in town for the tour.

With AOMG’s very own DJ of the night – DJ Pumpkin, the show started with rapper Loco showing off his impressive rapping skills. Gray joined him on stage shortly as the duo performed the crowd-favourite ‘RESPECT’ together.

Gray, who was visiting the country for the first time, joked about the chewing gum and smoking bans in Singapore and told his fans in English, “I don’t smoke”, causing fans to laugh in disbelief.

Loco, on the other hand, revealed that it was his second time in Singapore as he was previously here to attend the Ultra Music Festival.

Taking the stage next was veteran rapper Simon Dominic (also known as Simon D or ‘Ssam-D’), earning cheers from the crowd as soon as the iconic intro of his self-titled song “Simon Dominic” came on.

Despite being not very fluent in English, he was extremely outgoing and friendly in his interaction with Singaporean fans.

He even attempted Singlish phrases such as “thank you lah” and “okay lah”, bringing tons of laughter and smiles.

The 34-year-old even joked about his age and said, “It is about time for me to get married.”

He also asked his fans if they would still attend the concert if he were married.

The popular rapper expressed his fondness for laksa, and told the crowd to call him ‘Laksa(si)mon Dominic’.

Home away from home for Jay Park

The highlight of the night, Jay Park, got the fans all hyped up as he not only performed several hit title tracks, but also brought back what he called a Jay-Park-classic, ‘JOAH’.

Impressed by fans’ who were able to sing along perfectly, Park also expressed how Singapore felt like his home-away-from-home as he shared that this was his 12th or 13th visit here.

Even though Park only flew in that morning after filming for 24 hours the day before and was suffering from a flu, he never failed to keep the crowd hyped up.

He even blew his nose playfully on stage.

Park also flashed his perfectly toned body, thrilling the crowd by taking off his shirt and grooving to one of his hits, ‘MOMMAE’.

For the encore, the full line-up gathered on stage with chart topping hip-hop track ‘Who You?’, produced by Simon D and Gray when they teamed up as producers during ‘Show Me The Money’ Season 5 last year.

Season 6 this year will see Jay Park teaming up with Dok2 from Illionaire for the first time as producers for the South Korean rap competition TV show.
