Jay Chou's HK concert organiser applies for Guinness World Record
2 Jul – The bad news is: The organiser of Jay Chou's Hong Kong tour is postponing the show again for the fourth time.
The good news? They are planning to apply for the Guinness World Record instead.
As reported on Epoch Times, Best Shine Group, the organiser of Jay Chou's Carnival World Tour Hong Kong Station recently took to social media to express their apology to fans who have waited two years for the concert, saying that the shows had to be postponed yet again due to the government's recent flight bans and the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
They added that it would be hard to hold a concert in an environment where everything is unpredictable, and thus decided to postpone the concert again to next March.
Best Shine then revealed that they are planning to apply for a Guinness World Record instead, saying that there is no other concert in the world where 100,000 fans are unwilling to let go of their tickets and would rather wait for two and a half years for a show that has yet to come.
"We believe that this is already a world record and we would like to get the Guinness World Records together with the fans to commemorate this event, and to thank everybody for their determination in holding their tickets for such a long time," the statement added.
However, the company added that those who would like to apply for a refund could do so by visiting their Facebook page for further instructions.
The Hong Kong leg of the tour was originally scheduled to be held at the Hong Kong Disneyland in December 2019. However, due to the Hong Kong protest that was happening at the time, the event was postponed to November 2020. It was later delayed again to April 2021 with a new venue of the Central Waterfront Outdoor Performance Venue following the COVID-19 restrictions, only for it to be rescheduled to August of this year.
The new tentative date is set for March 2022.
