Jay Chou denies son was conceived through IVF

5 Feb – Taiwanese multi-hyphenate Jay Chou has denied rumours that son Romeo was conceived via in-vitro fertilisation (IVF).

According to China Times, tabloids recently alleged that Jay and Hannah opted for IVF for their second child to prevent possibilities of their son to be born with Jay's hereditary condition - Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Ankylosing Spondylitis is a type of arthritis that affects the spine that could eventually lead to a stooped-over posture. People who suffer from the condition would have symptoms that include constant pain and stiffness in the lower back and ligaments, and also lead to abnormal joining of bones.

The singer reportedly has been suffering the condition for many years, which is why he was exempted from military service. It was also said to be one of the reasons why he married model-actress Hannah Quinlivan, who would always take good care of him when his condition flared up in the past.

Jay's company, JVR Music had since dismissed the reports, saying that Romeo was conceived naturally. However, they admitted that the couple did consider the option before.
