Jay Chou cancels Chengdu show due to excavation work

28 Mar - Here is a special reason for the cancellation of your Jay Chou concert in Chengdu - the concert venue is excavated for priceless historical assets.

As reported on HiNet, Jay Chou's "The Invincible World Tour" has recently cancelled its Chengdu's leg, with JVR Music saying that they were unable to secure an alternative location, and suggested that fans head to neighbouring cities where the show will be held as well.

The company stated that they were previously notified by the Chengdu Sports Centre Stadium - their first choice of a venue - that it is undergoing 'renovations'.

But after much digging, it was revealed that the government is currently holding an excavation work around the area, after a landscape gallery dating back to the Ming Dynasty was unearthed under the stadium during a renovation project.

According to a photo circulating around the internet, most of the stadium's structure has already been removed, with several ancient relics found inside about 2,000 square metres of the area.

The stadium, built in 1991, reportedly will be moved to a different location.
