Jason Sudeikis Meets Oprah (Sorta) in the First Clip From 'The Book of Love' (Exclusive)

Henry (Jason Sudeikis) just wants to help when he sees a teenage girl (Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams) pillaging his trash. What he doesn’t expect to happen in the first clip from the new dramedy The Book of Love (watch exclusively above) are three specific things: to be threatened by Taser, to be accused of being a pervert, and to meet Oprah. All three happen — though “Oprah” turns out to really be named Millie.

The mild-mannered architect is urged by wife Penny (Jessica Biel) to assist the homeless teen. After Penny is killed in a car crash, the grieving Henry fully commits to the cause, which turns out to be building a raft sturdy enough to sail the down-and-out young Brit back across the Atlantic Ocean.

Directed by Bill Purple (who has worked on TV’s New Girl, Fresh Off the Boat, and Speechless) and based on a script he wrote with Robbie Pickering, The Book of Love co-stars Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, and Orlando Jones. The film’s music comes courtesy of Biel’s husband (and Trolls star), Justin Timberlake.

The Book of Love opens in theaters and on video-on-demand Jan. 13.
