Jason Reitman's new 'Ghostbusters' will apparently be made up of four teens

Looks like a younger generation of Ghostbusters will be battling poltergeists in the new movie.

That’s according to multiple reports that Jason Reitman’s reboot will feature four teens filling the shoes of Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray.

Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter first reported that the film would cast kids in the leading roles with Birth.Movies.Death claiming they would be aged between 12 and 13.

We Got This Covered claimed to have spoken to a source with knowledge of the script and they say the plot of “the film will focus on a family who moves back home to a small town. While there, they begin to ‘learn more about who they are and the secrets of the town itself.’

“Unfortunately, there’s no mention of how – or even if – any of the original Busters will factor into the story, but we imagine that this family is somehow connected to one or more of the characters from the first two movies.”

There’s no guarantee that the original Ghostbusters will appear in this third movie, definitely not for Harold Ramis who died in 2014, which is set after the events of Ghostbuster 2 but we can be sure the 2016 reboot will be completely separate.

The much-trolled remake, directed by Paul Feig and featuring an all-female cast, is an entirely different universe to the original films and new sequel.

Reitman has been handed the directing reins over by his own father, Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two movies.

Sony is aiming to release the movie in 2020.
