24 Aug – Both filmmaker Jerrold Tarog and actress Jane de Leon recently took to social media to address the news of "Darna's" postponement.
de Leon posted the official statement from ABS-CBN stating that the film will be delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic, and wrote, "I'm deeply saddened by the postponement of the Darna project. However, safety comes first as always."
"Thank you so much for the support [and] understanding. Let's pray for everyone's safety. God Bless!" she added.
de Leon was the third actress to be cast as Darna, following Angel Locsin, who left due to aggravated injury, and Liza Soberano, who departed after injuring her finger on the set of her television series.
On the other hand, Tarog, who was brought in last year as a replacement for director Erik Matti, did not say much about the delay, only revealing that he has already shot 15 days' worth of scenes (or 40 minutes of rough cuts) prior to the decision.
