James Wan secretly made another "Conjuring" spinoff

18 Mar - As this new movie was never promoted as a part of James Wan's "The Conjuring" universe, many were surprised with the info revealed last weekend that "The Curse of the Weeping Woman" is indeed the horror franchise's sixth instalment.
Though some fans were probably not surprised and more satisfied that their theory was confirmed. Eagle-eyed fans had an inkling that the movie might be connected to "The Conjuring" universe, specifically to 2014's "Annabelle", based on its IMDB details.
In addition to having James Wan onboard as producer, it was also listed that Tony Amendola is playing a character named Father Perez.
Fans had been pondering whether the name was merely a coincidence or he was reprising the same role he played in the first "The Conjuring" spinoff.
According to Screen Rant, Meagan Navarro's review following the movie's screening at SXSW confirmed the connection.

Father Perez's mention of his encounter with Annabelle places "The Curse of the Weeping Woman's" timeline before "The Conjuring" and "The Conjuring 2" and after "The Nun", "Annabelle", and "Annabelle: Creation".
So as it turns out, all this while James Wan had been secretly working on a new "The Conjuring" spinoff , letting fans think that the third "Annabelle" movie was to be the sixth instalment of the franchise when it is, in fact, the seventh.
Side note, "Annabelle 3", releasing this summer, is now officially titled "Annabelle Comes Home".
This also means this year, fans get to watch two movies from "The Conjuring" universe. Then next year, one movie, "The Conjuring 3", will be released (unless Wan is working on another secret instalment). A known upcoming spinoff, "The Crooked Man", remains undated for the time being.
"The Curse of the Weeping Woman" (also known as "The Curse of La Llorona" in some territories) begins haunting the big screen this April.
