James McAvoy & Michael Fassbender Up For More X-Men Movies?
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ may be coming, but it looks as though it won’t be the end for James McAvoy’s Professor X or Michael Fassbender’s Magneto…
According to Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood, the mutant duo has already signed up for even more ‘X-Men’ movies – extending their contracts.
“Over the weekend, Channing Tatum finally closed his deal to star as Gambit for FOX. Seems like he isn’t alone,” he explained. “Got a tip over the weekend and the hot rumor is that both Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy have reportedly made deals to continue playing Magneto and Professor Xavier in future X-Men movies.”

Of course, co-stars Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult already made headlines by revealing that their time as X-Men was coming to an end… and Michael Fassbender had plenty to say about that.
“I’m not sure,” he told MTV News. “I presume [Lawrence and Hoult] are talking about contractually. All of us signed on for a three-film deal, so we’ll just wait and see what happens after this.”
Obviously, their appearances in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ would bring the young stars’ three film deal to a close… but with the booming popularity of the ‘X-Men’ franchise after ‘Days of Future Past’, I can’t help thinking that 20th Century Fox would be keen to keep them on.
And Fassbender himself admitted to MTV that he’s “always interested in moving forward.”
But what about everyone else?
“I’m also told the studio also wants Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence back as well but the latter seems unlikely,” said Gonzalez. “Lawrence has said Apocalypse would be her last time playing Mystique.”
When it comes to the return of Professor X and Magneto, it seems we’ll have to wait and see how ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ plays out first. After all, the cataclysmic events we expect in the movie could forever change the ‘X-Men’ landscape.
“In terms of Fassbender and McAvoy’s deal, I don’t know specifics, how many more films, etc., but I’m told it sounds like Fox got both actors to stay for more X-Men films.”
