While almost all of the story of ‘Jurrasic World 2’ is being kept under wraps, James Cromwell has revealed a tantalising morsel about the character he’ll be playing in the upcoming sequel.

Speaking to Larry King, the ‘LA Confidential’ star says that his part has close links to that of John Hammond, the role played by Sir Richard Attenborough in the first movie.

Hammond was the original park’s founder and the pioneering extractor of that all-important ‘dino DNA’.

“The character Richard Attenborough plays [John Hammond], I’m his partner, Benjamin Lockwood,” he revealed.

“We developed the technology of being able to clone the genes – and so I am trying to deal with the blowback from what we have done.”

That’s quite some blowback to deal with, what with all the deceased themepark-goers and whatnot.

The news follows the announcement that Jeff Goldblum is returning to the franchise as the preening mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm, who survived both the first movie and its sequel.

What is known is that J.A. Bayona’s movie, won’t involve ‘a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island’, according to Colin Trevorrow, who wrote and directed the first ‘Jurassic World’ movie, and who has penned this second one.

Broadening the scope, he said: “It’s almost like InGen is Mac, but what if PC gets their hands on it? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?”

Chances are that the trail may go a little quiet now, as the movie continues its shoot at Pinewood and also at locations in the Brecon Beacons in Wales, and, erm, a business centre in Slough.

Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones and Ted Levine, it’s due out in June, 2018.
