Jameela Jamil appeared to tick all the right boxes for the obligatory black tie dress code at the Golden Globes last night, but the reality was a whole lot more amusing.

The ‘Good Place’ actor (who you might remember from her T4 presenting days, here in the UK) revealed she wore jeans under her gown in order to insulate herself against the cold.

En route to the ceremony, the star revealed her sneaky sartorial move to her 529,000 Twitter followers.

We appreciate the actress’ candor, but why she didn’t opt for thermal leggings or tights – instead of jeans – has left us confused.

Jamil’s gown, meanwhile, was a substantially more glamorous custom-made creation by Filipino-American designer Monique Lhuillier, complete with intricate embroidery.

While the jeans may not have been visible from below her full-length chiffon skirt, the move scored Jamil serious kudos among her followers, who were quick to celebrate her relatable fashion choice – which ultimately drew a lot more attention than the gown itself.

Some even admitted to pulling off similar style stunts themselves.

Jamil has lately established herself as a voice of the people, speaking out against everything from society’s obsession with weight – through her #IWeigh campaign – to the prevalence of airbrushing.
